Google, Inc can fund more twexter now in two ways:
[edit] summer of code
computer science student? in March, propose a twexter to earn $5,000 this summer and connect with Google, Inc.
here are ideas for proposals.. by mid march we hope to have a PHP plugin platform working with lyric chunkster which you can make multilingual this summer..
[edit] quality proposals
"We chose our applicants based on the quality of their proposal. If they provided a well-written proposal with a project plan, timeline, and expected milestones we scored them highly. Yes, the nature of the project was considered, but we were more interested in attracting talented and hard-working applicants than the scale of the project." soc discuss
- if applying, it sounds like a good idea to start now and make a clear proposal you are sure you can deliver
[edit] android
apply by 14 April 2008 to earn $25,000+ to put twexter on google's android mobile phone platform:
- google android developer challenge
- google blog: "the Android Developer Challenge provides $10 million in awards for developers who build great applications for Android.. more.. With so many brilliant minds striving to design engaging, innovative applications, mobile users around the world (3 billion and counting!) can expect phones equipped with dynamic and unprecedented applications very soon."
- android blog: The submission period is open until March 3, 2008, so you don't need to rush to submit your application just yet. March 3 is definitely a hard deadline though, so you must have your applications submitted by then. If you choose to submit now, you can always re-submit a later version of your application closer to the end.
- google-phone.com: Android SDK that has come under some fire for being prematurely announced; the much-publicised Developer Fund, which held promises of $10m in funding for coders willing to produce apps for the new mobile platform, has itself been delayed..
- what is android? Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. This early look at the Android SDK provides the tools and APIs necessary to begin developing applications on the Android platform using the Java programming language.

'The camera on the phone is used to take a video of an object — such as a book ... By offloading the processing from a mobile device onto a server, there are few limits on the size and processing power available to be used for the storage and search of images.. --thin client phone
