Twext Oct 15 - 30th
- Little Tasks
- Saving Indicator
- Google Analytics
- Flippy on find
- All Button – (but doesn’t saya ll)
- Logout
- Medium Tasks
- Click X Document
- URL to Document
- Larger Tasks
- Parent Child
- New Editor
coming soon:
- user experience
- simpler input
- text and twext translate
- faster server
- login
- synxi sound sync
what we need now:
- php/javascript developers <-python google app?
- simpler input UI
- testers
we got a lot working in august:
- slop
- addlang
- find
- chunk
- translate
now you can chunk translate between English and Español, even Diiiste and 日本語.. the tool is working, now we can test and transform the ui..
http://test.twext.com/tudisco/ui_simple3/
VERY successful month! Jason Tudisco is cool. On to september:
[edit] SEPT
ok we hit an unexpected delay but are back=)
we really need some logins so people can try twexter
then first things first for rest of september is:
- test
- test
- test
[edit] test
- cleanup ui in first 10 days
- test live here in town, observe
- same lang twext as learning tool <- this is cool
if we get to it, let's do some picture talk and print before 01 oct?
still, jason and i work close this week and next then in october:
[edit] OCT
[edit] print
probably most practical, i can use it to make cash here and now..
[edit] picture talk
this can maybe be easy and high value, just associate a picture with a twext then vary the twext and picture many ways to say same thing
[edit] who when
access file versions like wiki history know who says what
[edit] idn
we need power to link directly to specific twexts identified by URL
- url ununiform resource localizer
- utf8 in url punycode?
[edit] embed
make it easy to include twext in our webpage (think youtube)
[edit] record
associate sound recording with twext
[edit] nov
all above a tall order by november.. seems like we're funded through november (me funding august/september then the mystery funder for october/november).. probably need to focus on good user experience (like focus on testing and not try to do too much)
[edit] synxi
timing twext in flash.. if when working, synxi fun'll bring peoples to twext
[edit] agosto
[edit] Jason's Roadmap
[edit] ok
liking working with month plan
[edit] 15 AUG
yesterday
[edit] 31 AUG
two weeks
[edit] 15 SEP
a month toward
- find
- slop
- xcroll
- chunk
- translate
- addlang
- usr
addlang and slop simplified a lot, are we still on track to be chunking in end of august? cool.. and still aiming for end of september for "public" testing?
- dodo
if we did it for two days now i could be testing with rodrigo and others this month so maybe worth it.. what harm?
else just do usr login stuff in that time..
[edit] Jason's Road Map
- New Nav Button (Aug. 8)
- Code Clean Up (Aug. 8)
- Document Update (Aug. 12)
- Add language Option in Current Duke Form (Aug. 18) note: this can be shorted alot using a simpler interface.. I just hace to present one.
- Printing (Aug. 22)
- Simple Chunk Interface (Aug. 29)
[edit] Previous Notes
Ups... what, no roadmap.. A work in progress I am afraid..
Things that need to be done before anything else.
- new nav button
- The ability to edit a document and save it. (update)
- document code and code clean up
- make twexter work offline . google gears (make compatible with adobe air? could be even better).. more to talk about here. Acually this can be added below.. as adding the features below would effect the gears part also. its a chicken or egg problem.
- the little i know re: adobe air sounds good.. working with flash will be nice down the road
What we could do next.
- selecting and adding new languages
- simple work chunker
- printing (from interface to pdf)
- user registration (currently there is none)
- google translate text to twext
- making sure we can handle japaneese like text.. UTF8 good enough?, DB issues?, works in interface?
- Saving twext style with document, we don't currently do this.. is that necesary?
- embedding a twext document into another page.. even a wiki. (no need for special plugin)
We need to decide what is next.
I think printing is important. Users need to be able to register one day. Adding language equally important. Translate text to twext would blow peoples minds..
they rearranged my selection on priority:
- select language options (alot of work).
- printing.
- simplest chunkster
- google translate.
- user registration
- i don't think we're gonna get many concurrent users until we get real easy to use, so i rearranged.. can you roughly estimate timing for these steps?

roadmap 080418
- twexter code on git repository, done
- simplest xcroll http://test.twext.com/xcroll.html 23 april
- simplest way to find/save files on www (single server?) 28 april
- basic chunkster 5 may
- lyric chunkster connect to translate.google.com api 15 may
when we can
- manage twexter sourcecode (git)
- edit xcroll
- save, share and find twext docs
- start to automate chunk translation
then we have complete set of tools to release embeddable twexter version 0.1
[edit] ideas
WHAT HOW WHERE * delyric twexter PHP, AJAX, CSS translate.google * multilingual PHP for now * wixipedia PHP, MEDIAWIKI wikipedia * wordpress PHP blogosphere * scratch SQUEAK, PYTHON olpc * scribus PYTHON desktop pubishing pdf > paper * android JAVA for the gphone google * rails RUBY web data * logic UML portable logic * dodo portable twext data everywhere * id3 mp3 everywhere * io SOAP web app hub io.cx twext is a simple idea and method that can work with many systems, including free software systems and otherwise licensed commercial systems.. almost all these ideas are for participatory web-based platforms.. the immediate idea is to make practical tools that can:
[edit] delyric twexterzura is starting the PHP5 plugin system so basic twexter code can google translate.. so we may have better chance to connect with google, inc. in march php has a large base of developers.. we're trying a simple API that may enable established platforms to more easily integrate twext tools.. uml or pseudocode explicit logic may port to other twexters in ruby, python, java, lisp, scheme, squeak? maybe, but pseudocode is likely to help me learn to program twexter.. [edit] multilingualmultilingual twexter gets many languages twext.. when multiple languages can get twext, people will start getting twext
[edit] wixipediawixipedia is wikipedia that gets twext.. maybe simpler to start with stable wikipedia content; maybe we can integrate with PHP mediawiki; maybe most practical to start very simply with a wixipedia for kids: http://wixi.cc [edit] wordpresswordpress, like mediawiki, is a PHP tool with a large base of users in many languages.. connecting twexter services to wordpress may help many people get twext to learn language.. [edit] scratchhttp://scratch.mit.edu lets kids play around, create and share multimedia games.. scratch, twext and storyasking can make game kids can play to to learn each others' language..
[edit] scribusscribus (in python) plugin may help us build and sell delyric twext books, earning funds to develop more twexter systems.. (note: maybe more practical to work with adobe indesign) [edit] android3 billion humans have cellphones.. google wants smart new apps to reach all these people.. and has google has cash to pay for it.. android twexter?
[edit] dodododo may work with idn so twext data is easy to understand and share by variable programs and DBMS tools.. dodo data may also be easy to understand share by people too.. [edit] id3http://www.id3.org/ id3 tags] for mp3 audio files can include twext translation simply for starters, then grow to synxi [edit] ioio is a naive idea for web-based input/output interface.. intent is to easily create/modify twexml data with variable tools, systems and licenses which problem would you solve? why? choose one, show some love with a plan or a demo.. better yet, add a new idea, if you like.. |
